Creativity and commitment have always gone hand in hand in the career of the composer Sophie Lacaze. The first woman to win the Grand Prix Lycéen des Compositeurs (2009) as well as the Prix Claude Arrieu de la SACEM (2010), her musical language, conveyed by a finely chiselled poe-try (within and beyond words), instils an energy of softness and purity. Festival director and founder of Plurielles 34, a French association of women composers, she currently teaches at the Paul Valéry University in Montpellier. Her works have been performed all over the world.
